LAST BLOG OF THE GOLD COAST 🥲

Well folks we can't believe our stay at the beautiful GC is coming to an end 🥲 literally where has the time gone????

We have had a usual week for us this week with golfing and walking/exploring/re-visiting places

We walked some 21,546 steps/15.9 km/10 Miles (round trip)   👣 to Southport with a plan to visit the Yacht Club for coffee. What a find that was, a really lovely setting overlooking the yachts and other boats. We ended up having lunch and beer 🍻 and it was all so nice we booked to go again on Friday night for dinner!!

We ventured out in the car to explore the hinterland and visited Hinze Dam, the reservoir was huge, we did a relatively short walk before travelling on to a  tearoom I had found on google. It was really quaint and we treated ourselves to coffee and scones - delicious 🤤

We have done quite a lot of beach walking this week with the lovely sea breeze to keep us cool 😎

The weather Friday was simply awful, so much rain ☔️ so we did the only thing you can do in a rainy day -SHOP 😂😂 Pete tells me there are other activities for rainy days but I've no idea what he is on about 😁😁

The weatherSaturday was supposed to be wet again, so we headed out for a beach walk anyway and as it happened it was just a very overcast day

Sunday was another wet one 💦 (what is going on????) so we hopped into the car and had a trip hinterland to Tambourine Mountain, a very steep drive which gave us a flavour of the off beaten track and wine country. Found a coffee plantation with a nice cafe

We were recommended a restaurant called the Hideaway Kitchen which we visited Sunday night, the food was fabulous- a mix of Asian cuisine, tapas style, after a beef and chicken dish along with steamed dumplings, we treated ourselves to a dessert of donuts, fruit and sesame ice cream - wow what a treat for your taste buds that was - the picture shows a horrible grey goo but the taste was delish!

We finished off our last evening's dinner at our favourite Thai - not disappointed

Our last day at Broadbeach saw an early start to pack and leave the apartment clean and tidy.  After dropping off the keys we drove to Coombabah to walk the koala trail, we were privileged to see half a dozen+ kangaroos 🦘 and a couple of cute koalas 🐨 nestled high in the eucalyptus trees - interestingly they sleep for 20 hours a day! Lazy buggers no wonder we only saw 2 😂

We then drive around (for another wee stop for me if I'm truthful) and came across a place called Paradise Point - OMG it was fabulous, a very upmarket marina, fabulous houses and boats - Pete wants to move there 😂😂  They had stretches of beach and the water was lovely with swimming areas - definitely for me rather than those waves!! If/when we return we will definitely stay a few days, it was true to its name!!

Everywhere we have been in Australia they sell Acia - it is the new superfood, berries that come all the way from the Amazon and because it is transported a long way it is sold as a frozen whip - I did try one, wasn't keen tbh but if it isn't already available in the UK it will be!

On this trip overall, we have amassed a total of 766,000 steps - 625km/ 388.5 miles 👣👣👣👣. I am going to treat my tootsies 🦶 to a pampering before coming home 😂

We have now arrived at Brisbane Airport, handed the car over, checked in and are now experiencing Emirates lounge - champers and a bite to eat and I have just had a shower, cos you can 😂😂

Love to everyone and wishing Mum and Jane a fabulous holiday on their Cruise in the Canaries 🚢 - enjoy ❤️
